The thing we actually do differently

We are not going to tell you our saws are sharper than anyone else's. Equipment can be financed and certifications can be studied for. The thing we hear over and over from people who switch to us is much less glamorous than that: somebody picked up.

Left a message and never heard back. Got a quote and then nothing. Waited three weeks with a split trunk over the driveway. That is the story we get told on the first call, and it is the reason the business is set up the way it is. The phone gets answered, we come and look at the tree, and the work happens on the day we said it would.

We were voted Best Tree Service in Dassel-Cokato, 2026. That one is worth more to us than anything we could write about ourselves here, because we did not award it. The people whose trees we took down did.

Who we are

TreeTec is owned and run locally out of Cokato. Kyle Davison founded the company. Eric Wittenberg runs sales and is our ISA Certified Arborist, which means the person quoting your tree is the same person qualified to tell you whether it needs to come down at all.

What we are set up for

A lot of tree companies around here are a truck, a chipper and a couple of saws, and for a routine yard tree that is genuinely all you need. Where we are different is the harder end: a grapple truck, a boom lift and a knuckleboom crane, which is what a job needs when there is no room to drop anything or the wood is too far gone to put a climber in.

That is why we get called from further out than most local outfits. If a job is straightforward and you are forty minutes away, hire somebody closer. If it needs a lift and a rigging plan, that is our work.

Licensed, insured and honest about it

We carry liability and workers' compensation coverage on every job. Minnesota does not license tree care at state level, so anybody can put a magnet on a truck. Ask us or anybody else you are considering for a certificate of insurance before work starts. An uninsured crew working over your house is your problem, not theirs.

When we tell you not to do it

We turn down work fairly often. Sometimes a tree that looks alarming is fine and the honest answer is to look at it again in two years. Sometimes it belongs to the utility rather than to you. Sometimes a small job forty minutes away should go to a crew based in that town. Saying so costs us a job and it is the reason people call us back.
