Ash removal at a lake cabin
Two ash growing tight against a lake place, between the deck and the slope down to the water, with no room to put anything on the ground.
What we were looking at
The trees stood within a few feet of the building, on the narrow strip between the deck and the ground falling away toward the shoreline. The deck ran the length of that side of the house and a concrete walk led down to the dock, so almost every direction had something worth not hitting. Ash this close to a structure is the case where waiting genuinely costs money, because once the wood goes brittle the job stops being climbable.
How we did it
Both trees came down in short sections, rigged and lowered onto the small piece of open lawn away from the deck rather than dropped. Working over a lake lot also means keeping brush and chips out of the water, so material was moved uphill to the truck rather than being allowed to run down the slope.
