Tree down across the yard
A big yard tree came over toward a two-storey farmhouse and laid out across the lawn, crown up against the siding.
What we were looking at
The trunk landed across the open lawn with the crown finishing against the house rather than through it, which is the difference between a cleanup and an insurance claim. It blocked the whole side yard and the run down to the drive, and the canopy was tangled against the corner of the building. There was a second row of trees along the drive that had also taken wind, so the walk-through mattered as much as the tree that was already down.
How we did it
Brush came off the crown first to get the weight away from the siding, then the trunk was bucked back from the house end so nothing rolled toward the building. The grapple handled the large wood straight into the truck. We then walked the rest of the property with the owner, because after a storm the tree that came down is rarely the only one that moved.
