Tree work in Delano

Delano sits on the Crow River in eastern Wright County, and the river shapes a good deal of the tree work. Properties backing onto the river have soft ground and root plates that are less stable than they look, because changing water levels undercut them over time. Those lots also tend to have no equipment access from the back, so everything has to come out toward the street. Away from the river, Delano has a mature older core with substantial trees close to houses, and newer development further out where the trees are young. Being on our eastern edge, Delano is also where our area starts running into the outer west metro, and we are straightforward about that: we take Delano work as local work, and we are not the right call for somebody in the inner suburbs.

Our shop is at 225 Cokato St E in Cokato, roughly 24 miles away. We do not have an office in Delano and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What that distance actually buys you is that we are close enough to come and look at the tree properly rather than quoting it off a photo and hoping.

Tree Removal in Delano

River-corridor trees are the ones worth having looked at here. A tree with an undercut root plate can be considerably less stable than its canopy suggests.

Removal is the biggest part of what we do, and the jobs people call about are usually the awkward ones. If there is no room to drop it, see hazardous tree removal. If it is an ash, ash removal covers the treat-or-remove decision. And if you want a number before anyone comes out, the instant estimate takes about a minute.

What we do in Delano

  • Tree Removal: Backyard trees through to hazardous removals that need rigging, a lift, or the grapple truck. If it is leaning over the house, start here.
  • Hazardous Removal: The removals with no room to drop. Trees over houses, power drops and tight yards, taken down in sections on ropes.
  • Ash Removal: Emerald ash borer is working through the ash in Wright and Meeker counties. Dead ash gets brittle fast, and waiting makes the job harder.
  • Emergency Service: Storm damage, split trunks and trees on structures. The phone gets answered and someone comes to look.
  • Storm Cleanup: After the immediate danger is handled: hangers, broken tops, fence lines and the wood that is still lying where it landed.
  • Tree Trimming: Clearance, crown thinning and structural pruning, timed around the oak wilt window and cut to the collar.
  • Stump Grinding: Ground below grade so you can mow, replant, or rework the bed. Chips left or hauled, your call.
  • Land & Lot Clearing: Building sites, fence lines, buckthorn and acreage that has grown in. Selective where it should be.
  • Emerald Ash Borer: Trunk injection on a two year cycle for the ash worth keeping, and a straight answer about the ones that are not.

Tree service in Delano: common questions

Are trees along the Crow River riskier?

Often, yes. Changing water levels wash out soil around the root plate over time, so a tree can be much less anchored than it appears. The tell is cracked or heaving ground on the side away from the lean. Riverbank trees are worth having looked at properly.

There is no way to get equipment into my back yard. Can you still do it?

Almost always. It changes the method rather than the outcome: the tree comes down in smaller pieces and brush gets carried or winched out to the street rather than driven out. It takes more crew time, so it is quoted accordingly.

Is Delano at the edge of your area?

It is toward the eastern edge, about half an hour from our Cokato shop, and we work there regularly. Further into the west metro we would rather tell you to find somebody closer than quote a job we cannot service well.

Do you offer free estimates in Delano?

Yes, on site and at no charge, the same as everywhere else we work. If it is straightforward you can often get a realistic range over the phone or from a texted photo first, and the written quote follows the visit.
